About Us
Founder and college professor Dr. Charles "Chas" Houston started teaching his SAT preparation course more than 30 years ago. He and his experienced instructors of University Consultants (all career teachers and professors) teach students specific strategies to maximize their SAT scores.
Jacqueline Gottstein, the coordinator of University Consultants SAT Prep, is a former high school teacher and a college instructor. She also founded and directs Martí Spanish Academy, a summer immersion academy in Virginia for exceptional high school students.
We use the official SAT review book written by the same people who write the SATs, and we teach students HOW to effectively use the 800+ page book to better prepare for the exam. We review test-taking strategies to save time and increase the student's ability to answer questions correctly. We use practice tests with questions that are representative of the SAT. And we limit class size to 15 students, so we can offer lots of personal attention.
We also offer private tutoring to students who cannot attend the group courses, or who need to spend more time honing their test-taking skills.
